Each year on the 2nd Saturday of March, West Point Market sponsors a Chowder Challenge for bragging rights as the best chowder in Northeast Ohio.

Three finalists compete in a people's choice format where West Point Market customers taste the chowders and vote for their favorite. Contestants prep and cook their recipes that morning at the store and have it ready to sample by noon. Customers taste and vote for their favorite with the winner receiving a $500 West Point Market gift certificate. Second and third place finalists receive $250 and $100 certificates.

2012 Call For Entries 

If you are interested in entering the next Chowder Challenge, send your recipe and mark your calendar now. The deadline for recipe entries is February 17, 2012 with the final competition being held on Saturday, March 10, 2012. E-mail entries to: entries@westpointmarket.com or mail it to Chowder Challenge, West Point Market, 1711 W.
