The Annual Homebrew Challenge

West Point Market annually sponsors a competition for Ohio’s amateur beer and ale homebrewers. Beyond cash and other prizes, the winning brew will be showcased in bottles and on tap for craft brew enthusiasts to enjoy for a year. Your brew could come to life on our shelves and on tap next to the elite craft brews in America. Here’s how it works.

Amateur homebrewers enter bottles of their best beers and ales during July. Entries are judged in flights against homebrews of a similar style, but total score determines the winner. The top 10 scores, regardless of style, compete in a final, with winners announced at West Point Market’s Best of Ohio Craft Brew Tasting on the last Friday in October.

Cash and other prizes are awarded to all 10 finalists at our annual halloween craft brew tasting. The Grand Prize winning entry is brewed and bottled commercially by Akron’s Thirsty Dog Brewing Company, and sold at Akron’s West Point Market and eventually distributed in 11 or more states..

This competition is open only to amateur homebrew residents of Ohio, age 21 or older. See entry form for further details.
