Welcome to the official site of the Finest Cut Steak Cook-Off.
West Point Market sponsors the area's premier over-the-coals steak grilling championship each July as one of the featured events at the "Taste of Akron" in conjunction with Hardesty Park Arts Expo weekend. Eight finalists compete on Thursday evening, grilling steaks live for presentation to a panel of judges - real judges from Municipal, Common Pleas, and the district Court of Appeals.
We insist that contestats only use the best of ingredients, so hand picked and trimmed to order USDA Prime steaks are provided at no-charge to the finalists by the West Point Market Butcher Shop the evening of the competition.
The cook-off is as fun to watch as it is to participate. Finalists arrive by 5:30 pm to prep and prepare their grills. Each is given a presentation time and the judging happens between 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm. It's all part of the fun as you nibble on featured foods from area restaurants found at the Taaste of Akron tent.

Results & Recipes
After an unusually hot and dry summer leading up to the cook-off, the 4th Annual Finest Cut Steak Cook-Off competition was rained-out on the evening of July 26th. A torrential downpour dampened the evening, but not our appetite to celebrate a really great steak and crown another champion on July 25, 2013.
